POS Tale n.º 3 - Is that a Titan on your pocket or you're glad to see me?

POS Tale n.º 3 - Is that a Titan on your pocket or you're glad to see me?

A few days ago we had engaged Tencus on YKE while they were trying to do a POS bash.

This odd day, they start to spam local on our home system:
“- Guys, come YKE now!”
“- What’s up on YKE that you want us there?”
“-Titan to kill!”

That woke us up as you can expect. After some initial caution, we sorted a mess of a fleet including Dictors, Bombers and some Tier 3 BCs mainly.

As we arrive on local Tencus already had the Avatar’s shields down, and we proceed to help. It seems the Avatar had hotdroped a Tencus Carrier near a POS (Go go solo supercap!!!), but met some unexpected resistance.

Resistance is futile!
A few seconds after a cyno opens, and Easily Offended (who currently live on Litom) jumps in. At this point things start to get messy. Comunication was not the best and both A4D and Easily Offended start exchanging gunfire. Couple losses on both sides, but nothing troubling… After all, we were all mostly focused on the Titan.

...But news travel fast on Curse and everyone want’s a piece of the feast.  When finally we had ceased fire vs Easilly Offended, guess what! AAA, Darkside and Gorgon Empire arrive.

At this point that was it. We left the field and grabbed some popcorns to whatch the fireworks from a safe distance. We still had some folk trying to steal the loot on T1 Frigs, but were instapoped by the other fleets... can't have it all I guess

POS Tale n.º 2 - A Fleet coming this way?

POS Tale n.º 2  - A Fleet coming this way?

Tencus corp guys that live on CL-85V have some new toys, like a couple Nyx. In order to use them other than to collect dust, they started waging a POS/POCO war against the Curse local fellas. We don’t really care about a POS that ain’t even ours, but the owner talked to us and we thought it would be a good chance for a fight vs Tencus.

We brought up a fleet of Heavy Missile Drakes with 3 Basys, and they had about 10 Tier 3 BCs, without logi. The engagement was real fast… Get cloaky to provide warp-in, tackle what you can. Only managed to get 1 Oracle before all others warped out. Not much for an engagement...

Then we had intel about 5 NCdot Talos and 2 Basis plus “a couple tacklers”. Hell, we were ready for that so we went to meet them on the gate.

When they start to jump in, we quicly realized intel had not been all that accurate. 1st thing we noticed is they had at least 7 Talos and 3 Basilisks. Anyway we had to fight because they had bubbled up and we were already agressed.

Both sides primaried the Basilisks, and both held for a while, until the NCdot ECM drones jammed one of our Basis. From this point all hell broke loose, and long story short, we suffered some casualties without even killing one of them. Started up as being an-anti POS Bash, but ended up being a whelp due to some unacurate intel. No matter what fleet or ship you have, intel is, by a long shot, the best weapon you can have!

POS Tale n.º 1 – No more fuel for ya!

Do you usually engage on POS’s? And I don’t mean to shoot them and blow them along with their modules. I mean to warp on a POS and engage a fleet (or something), take the fire from it’s guns (if it has them), kill and bail!

Honestly, we at A4D usually don’t. If we see a potential prey on the same direction as a POS on D-Scan we usually just say “Meh… it’s on a POS, move along”. The sheer sight of the damn things on grid gives us a disconfortable “EEEEEKKKKK” feeling from Sov days we have on our background.
The most terrible boring sight one can have on EVE: A POS!!!

Anyway, for some unknow reason, some of our fellas start to warp on grid with POS’s “just to make sure”. These are some tales about it!

POS Tale n.º 1 – No more fuel for ya!

There we were needing for targets, so we decide to take a cloaky scout to Doril and mess with AAA. We would try to get a snipping BC off station, a ratter, a missioner, a couple of bubble campers, whatever.

D-Scan showed a whole lot of bombers (10 or so) near a planet, but a POS was there too. For some reason, the scout went on grid and managed to perceive that there was a non-AAA prorator just OUTSIDE the pos. Better yet… no online gun on the POS! He was surely an alt providing some support to a Black Ops hotdrop (Widow also was there), and had not the pass to the POS

Quick solution: Get a fast frig/dessy gang on gate (we formed in less than 2 minutes), provide warp in, tackle Prower kill!

We also got as a bonus a manticore that drifted outside the POS. No more cyno fuel for them hodroppers!

Patch Day: Retribution

Patch day is always a thrill.

Not only EVE is about to get juicy changes, but we're always eager to find out what CCP broke or even if you going to be able to log in!

Fortunatly I was able to log in, only to find out that my corp mate, SG1 had already built a couple of new dessys. The Dragoon was the 1st one to come out of the oven, so took it for a spin. 3 Small neuts and couple more mods that I can't even properly remember and let'se see what comes from the gates.

Not long after a Darkside harpy comes to the gate. We both jump at same time, and not wanting to loose my new toy on the 1st day I call for backup. If I went down, he would to too.

The Harpy decloaks 1km away from me! Right within his scram/web/optimal range. I could not be on worse situation... All I can do is neut him, send my drones and hope for the best. The neuts saved me, because when I hit 50% structure, all the electronic notifications disapear and damage stops. Neverthless I capped myself out too, so I just warp off, still in panic. My corp mates  arrive pretty much at same time and finish him off. This was the1st kill A4D had with a new dessy involved

As a result I figured out that the Dragoon probably needed more tank and a way to not cap itself so fast. Back to the EFT thingie. More on that someday in the future.

A few minutes after, a corp mate on a Argos went Doril to mess with AAA and got himself a solo Blackbird (don't ask...). It was the 1st solo kill on A4D with a new dessy.

Rest of day consisted in shooting ourselfs in the face with T1 Cruisers all day, completly ignoring any potential prey passing around. That and reffiting new/old ships, like wondering what to do with those neuts on the Hurricanes. Still I did not wanted to go to bed without a kill, and I went roaming nearby on a Harpy. I ended up on HJ-BCH, where I learned new Red Alliance pets moved in!

Oh Joy!

Ok, so there I am on my Harpy and they form up a Enyo, Daredevil, Hurricane, Cynabal, Rapier, Onyx, Dominix and a couple Drakes, in less than 5 minutes. On a normal day I'd try to split the Enyo or Daredevil to try get a solo kill, but being short on time did not had the chance for a 30 minutes Benny Hill chase, so I went the easy road.

I called in reinforcements.

We rounded up 2 Vexors a Fleet Stabber, a Drake and a Sentinel. On the way to back me up my corp mates actually met a Talos that wanted to kite them, but one of the Vexors managed to put a Scram on him. My backup had not even reached destination and had already scored a nice kill!

Moving on, my fleet got on gate ready. All I had to do was warp to the gate where my fleet was, and go for tackle on the Cynabal. Fortunatly it had no Neuts (and I had no Nosf) so managed to hold it and just brace for impact. At this point they had something like 1 Hurricane and 2 Drakes on the field, along with a Rapier.
As secondary points on the Cynabal were called, I went for tackle on the Rapier too. Tracking Disrupters from the Sentinel made sure our fleet survived the high DPS from  the Cane. With the 2 highest value ships killed, we went for the BCs afterwards, killing them all.

1minute later they arrive on the gate with 1 Dominix and 4 Hurricanes. They wanted payback and had organized themselves. Right now was too much heat for us so we returned home, but unfortunatly our Fleet Stabber was a bit off the gate and got picked by them with no chance to run. This called for a Round 2.

Round 2

It's not everyday we got agressive carebears around. Since was patch day we sorted up some Armor T1 Cruisers. For the Round 2 we sorted up 4 Vexors, 2 Ruptures, 1 Maller, 1 Omen and I was itchy to fly the new Exequor myself!

After some messy comms (all ships were fitted in less than 10 minutes), we were back in their doorstep in no time. They also wanted a fight, because within 1 minute after jumping a bait fleet (like 4 guys), they were warping on top of us. Their initial fleet was composed of 1 Drake, 1 Ferox, 3 Hurricanes and 1 Incursus. A while after a Falcon joined them.

The engagement was just a big brawl, but the new Exequror proved to be up to the task and prevented anyone on our gang to die, allowing our gang to kill most of them. I have to work on the fit because I allowed to cap myself out, and I was lucky because it took them too long to realize how good the new "T1 logi" can be.

Also the video from the Exequror point of view

Couple hours later some of our mates retuned, but all they got was a solo Geddon ratting. No fight this time, only a gank, thus ending "Patch day".

New T1 Cruisers, we hail thee!
